The Annapolis Rotary Club will hold its fifth annual "Black Tie and Diamonds" gala at The Westin in Annapolis on Saturday, March 1st, 2008. The proceeds from this year's event will benefit Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts. "Maryland Hall is thrilled to be chosen. This is an investment in the arts for our community. Keeping the Arts Alive for Annapolis and Anne Arundel County is what we do," said Linnell Bowen, executive director of Maryland Hall. The funds will go toward renovating the old gym into a community theater for performances, classes and smaller events. "Investing in arts education and the 75 year old building are essential for the Hall's growth and survival," she added. The evening begins with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, followed by a sit down dinner, and then dancing to the music of "Gazze." The live and silent auctions offer a variety of luxury items, including diamonds, and trips. One lucky person has the opportunity to win $10,000 in the 50/50 raffle. Rotary is a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provide humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations and helps build goodwill and peace in the world.
