Making Our Community A Better Place

The Annapolis Rotary Club has a long-standing tradition of commitment to our local community. This is demonstrated most visibly through the granting of funds earned from our annual Crab Feast. As we celebrate our 60th year of holding the Crab Feast, we also celebrate that tradition of giving back to our community.

Grant selection is done by a club committee. The Grants Committee changes each year to foster a perpetually fresh perspective regarding the community's greatest needs. What doesn't change is our main goal: to improve the quality of life for the citizens of the greater Annapolis area. In the past, we have supported organizations working in a variety of arenas, including social reform, health care, the environment and the arts, to name a few. Because Annapolis is our designated Rotary service area, we are restricted to disbursing funds within this area only. Other Rotary Clubs may offer grants within their service area.

Our basic criteria for grants distribution are as follows. Grant moneys must:

• help our Annapolis community in some demonstrable way;
• go toward funding specific projects and not operating expenses;
• result in the improvement of quality of life for the Annapolis community; and
• touch as many people as possible.
